Well, I'm not sure. That definitely wasn't the context he told me about that door in. According to him, it's the Pharaoh who's meant to be collecting the items to open it, and his memories with them. He didn't say anything about himself.
[He said things about Zorc Necrophades. But he also said he wasn't interested in that, but only his own goals... but that he didn't remember Zorc, only learning it from the Thief King. She could barely make sense of it at the time, and she's still trying to untangle it.]
... Bakura's memories are missing too, though. Perhaps - Whatever it is he's doing will recover them for him? But what he'd do after that is a mystery to me. There's also the possibility he lied to me, too, but I didn't ask him to tell me this stuff in the first place, so I'd hope that's not the case.
[That makes sense, actually. If the Pharaoh was supposed to open the door and recover his memories, maybe that was why the spirit hadn't tried to kill Yugi since then. After all, if he's from that time too, he might be able to discover the things he must have been missing. He doesn't understand why the game is involved, though. If that's the case, Bakura just needs to give Yugi the Ring and the Eye, right? He can understand him holding back the Ring until the last minute, but there'd be no need for this game. It wouldn't explain why he said he'd be gone, either.
For just a second, Ryou teeters on the edge of a painful realization. Then it slips away. Most likely he doesn't want to give up the Ring without a fight. Even if it benefited him, he supposes the spirit always did like making things difficult. In another life, he might have worked for the Umbrella Corporation. It made a certain amount of sense to him.]
He could have lied to you, but I don't see why he would bother. He didn't expect to ever see you again once he left Campus, I'm sure. I didn't either. But I'm glad we were wrong about that.
[She'll grin brightly at that, momentarily distracted from her suspicions.]
Aw... I think he was just relieving his boredom with me, but it worked out quite well for you, I suppose. Whatever he's up to, I think it's well worth it for you to try and get him out of you.
[With what she knows, it seems likely that he won't be staying with Ryou after this. She still has a bad feeling about it, but if she were in his shoes... she would definitely take the risk.]
Un! I think it's worth it. It's not like he can do anything too bad, after all. Yugi-kun and the other Yugi-kun won't let him, I'm sure about that.
[He has absolute faith in his friends. They won't let anything bad happen to the world! Though... He glances out of the window worriedly at the monsters out there. Anything worse, then. He still can't quite believe this is happening.]
He did? I'm surprised... but then again, he's kind of arrogant, isn't he?
[The spirit, he means. That's what he's picked up from Malik and the others anyway. He picks up the plates they left on the table, carrying them over to the kitchen to put them in the sink.]
So I guess he'd say it because he's been beaten by him a lot and doesn't want to think that anyone who's beaten him is easily defeated. That gives us something in common. I'm saying it because he's been beaten by him a lot too.
[Heehee... that's a pleasant thought. He hopes the spirit is remembering that and sulking.]
It helps that the other Yugi-kun is really strong and kind of hard to intimidate. A really creepy man tried to make him lose by firing off flamethrowers at him through the duel once and he just kept on taunting him. I can't imagine him backing down.
Especially since it's not duel monsters. If the spirit was using the cards he got from the school, he might have stood a chance, but in a regular game he's got a decent chance of losing even if he stacks the odds in his favour.
[Oh man. She is laughing pretty hard at that. Good job Ryou, you've compromised a little bit of the spirit's street cred. There isn't even that much left where Harriet is concerned. Merciless.]
I-Is that so... well, you're already here making the thing, so it's too late to fall back on special cards from the future. Too bad for him. You do make the other Yugi sound quite formidable.
[I mean, flamethrowers? ... She's snarked through worse, actually, but it's the best tactic. Respect.]
[The laughter makes him grin. Just as he hoped. If he had the chance, he'd ruin that street cred all day every day - well, no, really he'd just play games all day every day, but he'd do it a lot. While she talks, he quickly washes up the dishes, checking the cupboard to see where they go and putting them away before coming back. For some reason his body feels aching. Whatever the spirit did, it must have been in an awkward position.
...and why the hell are his shoes on? Oops. He's just going to take those off and stash them by the door.]
Sorry! I must have tracked dirt all over the place. I'll clean up if we made a mess.
That might be a good idea. That way, I won't be imposing on you. I'd appreciate it a lot, Vaughn-san.
[He doesn't mind the company, but he's sure it must be problematic having someone else bothering her in her own private home. Even if it's just a dormitory, it's still where she lives.]
I doubt it. It's not like they're holding classes while there are monsters about... I just put the barrier here because it would be easy to get all of my people in. A great deal of them are my school friends anyway.
But don't get me wrong, Ryou. I didn't offer it because I wanted to get rid of you. I'd be happy to let you stay, we'd just have to get another bed in.
[Without Elly, she didn't have a roommate, so she'd cleared the space in no time so it would quit reminding her. But it wouldn't be impossible to move one in from said empty dorm, with a little work.]
[Then again, the spirit will probably creep in to bother her all the time anyway. And it's not the first time they've lived together. He mulls it over for a moment before nodding, a smile settling on his face.]
Then, if you don't mind, I'd like to stay.
[He's very much sick of silence. Having someone he likes around would be pretty nice.]
[And Bakura would probably whinge at her if she left him to fend for himself when he's meant to be making that diorama.]
If you're up to working, you could do that while I find someone to move that in for me. It's been a few hours since the barrier went up, so the people in here should have calmed down at least.
Un, I'll get right on it. Thanks again, Vaughn-san.
[Considering the time it seems to be, they've wasted a lot of it before he even woke up... He has no idea what day it is, even. Oh well. He'll figure it out eventually.
Dutifully, he sinks down to sit on the floor in front of the coffee table, crossing his legs beneath him. Setting out his tools he grabs the first piece he needs, starting to carve it carefully. This is going to be so much better than doing it in the museum! He's almost thankful they came here, aside from the panic and confusion and the fact he's nearly 6,000 miles from home.]

No worries. It's actually not too uncommon to wear shoes indoors here. And either way, it's just my college dorm, so it's not a big deal.
I could probably find you an empty one, if you want. My barrier isn't as small as the one in the old Campus, this one covers the entire building.
